(English) Nikko Shiranesan Ropeway (Aerial Tramway)/Footbath in the Sky/Rock Garden
At the Rock Garden, the summit station of the Nikko Shiranesan Ropeway (Aerial Tramway), you can enjoy Shirane-aoi (Glaucidium palmatum: Japanese wood poppy), from which the name of the mountain derives, komakusa (Dicentra peregrina: a herbaceous perennial found in mountains in Japan and other areas) and other alpine plants. You can also have a relaxing time with your feet in the footbath at the Footbath in the Sky, which also serves as an observatory at 2,000 meters above sea level. As you bathe your feet, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Mt. Hiuchigatake and Mt. Shibutsu located in the neighboring Oze National Park and Mt. Hotaka, Mt. Tanigawadake, Mt. Kusatsu Shirane and Mt. Asama, some of the top 100 great mountains in Japan, located in Gunma Prefecture.
