(English) Corn Road
For about 4 kilometers on National Route 120, from near the Katashina Village Office towards the direction of Nikko, about 20 farm stalls stand in a row selling corn-on-the-cob hot from the grill and other fresh local vegetables as well as maitake mushrooms and other local specialties. This is why this section of the route is popularly called the Corn Road. A piece of grilled, freshly-harvested corn-on-the-cob with a mouthwatering smell is 300 yen and up.
The locally grown corn is really sweet because of the large difference between high and low daily temperatures in the area. The season starts early August, when the corn becomes especially popular among tourists.
