Katashina Village

Ozegahara ”DAI-NI Chozo Hut”

DAI-NI Chozo Hut is a simple and clean lodge in Miharashi in Ozegahara Marsh located roughly in the central part of Oze. The Miharashi (Shimotashiro Jujiro [crossing]) area is like a small village in which 6 lodges are located. The east side of the lodges is surrounded by rich beech primeval forests. You can see Mt. Shibutsu from the guest rooms on the west side. It takes 3 to 4 hours on foot to get to DAI-NI Chozo Hut from “Numayama Toge (pass)” or “Miike,” the gateways to Oze on the Fukushima Prefecture side, as well as from “Hatomachi Toge (pass),” the gateway to Oze on the Gunma Prefecture side. It is conveniently located to allow for a walk on Ozegahara Marsh, as a base point for a climb on Mt. Hiuchigatake and Mt. Shibutsu, and for a visit to Hiraname-no-Taki (falls) and Sanjo-no-Taki (falls). Hiuchi-ura Rindo (mountain trail) is also great for a visit during the seasons of fresh greenery and colored leaves. A three-hour walk from DAI-NI Chozo Hut in Ozegahara Marsh will take you to Chozo Hut on Ozenuma Lake.
