Marvelous and exciting scenery, fantastically beautiful lake, colors of the four seasons
The area of Marunuma Lake has expanded to its current size due to the construction of the dam. The symbol of the Marunuma Area is the 2,578-meter high Mt. Nikko Shirane, the highest mountain north of the Kanto region. It is one of the top 100 great mountains in Japan and popular among enthusiastic mountaineers and surrounded by multiple sommas, lakes and marshes. The visitors will enjoy the great scenery and an abundance of alpine flora. In particular, the colored autumn leaves are a must-see. Other than the above, you can enjoy fishing, skiing, and bathing in onsen (hot springs). The Marunuma Area is a place for you to play with nature to your heart's content.
The aerial tramway operates year round for the visitors to enjoy fresh spring greenery, mountain climbing, autumn leaves and snow skiing.
Sugenuma Lake boasts the best water clarity in Honshu, or the main island of Japan, with its beautiful emerald green surface. SUP tours are available for you to fully enjoy the great nature surrounded by the primeval forests.
Corn-on-the-cob hot from the grill – The road is popularly called the Corn Road lined with farm stalls selling local specialty agricultural products in season such as mushrooms and corn.
